Unakite

Origin

Unakite was named for the Unaka Mountains in the Southeastern U.S.A., where it was first discovered. Unakite is often referred to as epidotized granite and is a mixture of pink feldspar, green epidote, and quartz. Opaque granitic rock with main parts of aggregate being quartz and feldspar as well as greenish epidote.

Unakite is relatively new to the market but is growing in popularity. Its spring colors and compact, hard structure, 6 to 7 on the Moh's scale, make it a nice stone for jewelry.

History / Mythology

Unakite was only discovered in the last century. This lack of historical perspective has not inhibited Unakite's growth as a spiritual and healing tool.

Metaphysical Lore

Unakite acts to balance the emotional body, bringing it into alignment with the higher forces of spirituality. It provides for a gentle release of those conditions which have been inhibiting ones growth.

Medicinal Lore

Unakite can be used to go "beneath" the physical symptoms of dis-ease, allowing the causes to become apparent from the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual planes of existence.

It acts as an assistant in weight gain, stimulates healthy pregnancies and aids in reproductive disorders.
