Origin

Carnelian is an agate class of chalcedony mined worldwide.  It usually occurs in a uniform  color of red, orange or red-brown. Some specimens can be found with agatized banding that gives this gemstone a unique character.

History / Mythology

Carnelian is said to be one of the stones in the Breastplate of the High Priest.   It is further associated with Israeli Tribe of Reuben and the Christian Apostle Phillip.


Metaphysical Lore

Carnelian is said to stimulate analytical capabilities, inquisitiveness and subsequent initiative.  It can be used to dispel apathy, indolence, and passivity.  It is the gem of "Get Up and GO".

It has long been refer to as "The Actor's Stone", aiding in theatrical pursuits. It aids in perceptiveness to situations and awakens ones inherent talent.

Carnelian is associated with the 1st through 4th chakras. It has used as a guard against envy, fear, and rage and as an aid to banish sorrow from the emotional structure.
